SG Jimmy Page Prewired Kit with Bumblebee Caps

This Prewired Kit leaves absolutely nothing to be desired. The circuit became famous by the guitar god Jimmy Page, who uses this circuit in many of his guitars. The four CTS push/pull pots allow the coil splitting, humbucker in series, and out of phase of the two humbuckers. This results in a variety of 21 differend sounds that are not possible with any other prewired kit. We decided to use CTS Push/Pull pots again for this kit despite the higher costs and difficult space conditions. Due to the robust construction they are simply far superior to the petite pots of the competition.

 

CAUTION:

The prewired kit works only in combination with splitable (3 or 4 wire) humbuckers. The CTS push/pull potentiometers that we use have a mounting height of 27,5 mm (including tooth lock washer). The potentiometers are may be too high for some SG style guitars. If in doubt, please measure the height of the electronics compartment before purchasing.

 

Push/Pull setting:

  • All Push/Pull Pots pushed down- normal Standard
  • Bridge Volume pulled- Coil Split Bridge Humbucker
  • Neck Volume pulled- Coil Split Neck Humbucker
  • Bridge Tone pulled- Neck and Bridge is Out of Phase (Toggle switch must be in middle position)
  • Neck Tone pulled- Neck and Bridge is in Series (Toggle switch must be in middle position)

For pickups in series and out of phase both pickups are necessary. The toggle switch must be in the middle position for the functions to work properly.

All our prewired kits have matched pots and caps. This means that we measure all potentiometers and capacitors before installation, select them, and use them according to their values where they deliver the best possible result in combination with the pickups. This is important because original pots have tolerances of up to +-20%. In extreme cases, a 500k pot can have values of only 400k or up to 600k ohms. Not infrequently good pickups are replaced unnecessarily, because they sound muddy, weak or thin. In reality, however, the problem is often not due to bad pickups, but simply to inferior wiring, which mercilessly destroys the actually perfect sound.

We compared enormous quantities of capacitors in interaction with various pickups and thus determined the most suitable tone caps under real conditions. The capacitors are hand-selected HQ film capacitors with very low tolerance, very similar in design to the originals from the fifties. The vintage paper wax skin gives the caps an additional look. Our capacitors are so close to the originals of the 50's that nobody will hear a difference.

In all our kits only the best components from well-known manufacturers like CTS, Switchcraft, CRL or Oak Grigsby are used. All kits are carefully manufactured in small quantities and professionally handcrafted, and delivered to satisfied customers all over the world.
